At 7am on Saturday 19th July we, a group of uninitiated ramblers, will be gathered at the foot of Pen Y Ghent wearing our newly bought walking boots ready to climb the Three Peaks. As part of the group should have been Matthew Barker, who died four years ago from causes related to hypocholesterolemia. He was only 22 years old.
Matt lived with this condition for most of his life, but his positive nature in the face of it is what characterised him and is what we want to carry with us on our journey - not to complain about the physical struggle but to embrace the challenge with laughter amongst the breathtaking scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.
We are doing this to inspire this attitude in others, to raise money for the research of the British Heart Foundation and, of course, to look after our own hearts, which are so sad without Matt.
Please follow our progress, be inspired, inspire and be positive. For Matt.
