So very last minute I have decided to run 12k at the HBF Run for a Reason this Sunday 25 May.
Due to the crisis Scott and I have been through in the last few weeks I found myself wanting to do something that I felt could help make a difference and that he would have wanted to do himself but can't at the moment but would be proud of me for doing.
The photo on this picture was taken earlier on in the day that Scott started to feel unwell. We had both just been for a short run and had no idea what was going to happen. Unfortunately Scott suffered a bleed in the brainstem from a cavenoma that he has. He was diagnosed with this 12 years ago when it first bled and thankfully made a full recovery. 10 years ago he had gamma knife surgery on it, this was a controversial course of treatment at the time but he felt that he had to do something to minimise the risk of future bleeds.
After a very difficult few weeks of complete rest Scott is now making a recovery and his symptoms of double vision, difficulty with balance and swallowing are improving. All my thoughts are positive that he will make a full recovery over the next few months.
I am also using this opportunity to raise funds for Cavenoma Alliance. Scott has been a member of this charity since it was first set up. In particular he likes that it is looking to do research into the best way to treat cavenomas since his has not yet been evidentially established.
