On the 20th of June I will be taking part in a world record attempt charity skydive at Dunkeswell! Honiton. Over 24 hours myself and 331 others are going to sky dive in tandem - the current record is 281.
This is the highest skydive without the use of oxygen..
I'm doing this to raise money for the charity "Action on Pre-eclampsia".
Almost 4 years ago, my Brother and his Wife lost their first baby due to this illness. This was very late on in their pregnancy and not only did they lose a child, I lost my baby nephew. For those who aren't aware what this charity is about, please have a read below.
Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterised by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms.
Globally, preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. These disorders are responsible for 76,000 maternal and 500,000 infant deaths each year.
I want to do this charity skydive to show awareness about this illness. Before this sudden tragedy in my family, I was not aware of this condition. And many of you may not until now. Please donate and read more into this condition, as one day it could help yourself, your partner or a friend to spot the symptoms.
Please donate to Action on Pre-eclampsia and come and watch me jump out of a plane at 15,000ft on the 20th of June, Dunkeswell, Honiton.
Please note ALL donations will go towards this charity as the fee of the skydive has already been paid.
Thank you!
