THE CHALLENGE Around the world fractured communities and the shrinking space for public dissent have resulted in widespread human rights abuses. The need to expose these abuses with verified evidence has never been more pronounced. Yet too often politically motivated intimidation and violence, systematic corruption, and the persecution of marginalised groups goes unseen. Traditional documentation efforts rarely reach the areas in which the most vulnerable live and are routinely beset by the challenges of safely documenting and verifying violations.

OUR APPROACH Videre’s approach is different. We work directly with oppressed communities in some of the world’s most hard-to-access areas, equipping networks of local activists and community leaders with the technology and training to safely capture compelling visual evidence of political violence, human rights violations and systemic abuses. With the ability to transcend language and focus attention, we then put this visual evidence in the hands of those that can secure accountability and justice.
