The Tsavo project, set up by Global Angels with one goal: to provide safe drinking water to over 100,000 people in the Taru Desert region, Kenya. http://www.globalangels.org/projects/water-tsavo-kenya/ Dirty drinking water kills more children than war, HIV, malaria and traffic accidents combined. 800 million do not have access to safe drinking water. That's 1 in every 9 people on the planet. 90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are in children under 5 years old. This can be prevented. Here in the UK, we take fresh, clean running water for granted. We often forget how lucky we are, and how many people around the world do not have these luxuries. We are often blind to the fact that people around the world must walk up to 20km or more every day, just for some dirty water to which they share with wild animals. They do this as they have no choice. This is the only water supply for many communities. Together, we can make a difference! Every penny you donate will help to change a human beings life! We intend to raise money to aid communities within Tsavo, allowing them to have clean drinking water and a better quality of life. To do so, my brother and I will be climbing to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the worlds tallest free standing mountain. At a massive 19,341ft it is the highest point in Africa overlooking Tsavo, and Kenya itself. We will be climbing via the machame route which takes 6 days to complete the treck. On our journey to the summit, our bodies will be tested to the limit as we battle the four climatic zones, each of which present various different challenges. Easy access to safe water directly changes peoples lives, promotes health, raises life expectancy and lowers the infant mortality rate. 100% of every pound you donate will fund clean water projects.
