Trans Pride Brighton is the UK’s first event of its kind. Now in its fifth year, we would like to help bring trans people who are seeking asylum to participate on Sat 22 July. We are fundraising for their travel and food.
The UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group runs the country’s – and seemingly Europe’s – first and only support group for trans*, non-binary and intersex people seeking protection from persecution in their countries of origin.
UKLGIG’s monthly support group meetings in London are a vital service combatting isolation and providing psychosocial support, enabling individuals to come together from around the country. We pay for their travel but our stretched budget won’t extend to bringing them to Brighton. We would love to support them to attend Trans Pride, as both a much-needed social activity and to feel the solidarity of the wider trans community and the people of Brighton and Hove.
£100 will pay for travel for all the group members and support staff from London to Brighton.
£200 will pay for lunch for the group as well.
£400 will pay for travel from clients’ homes in other cities to London, in addition to the London-Brighton leg of the journey.
Anything over £400 will go towards the ongoing costs of all our clients attending UKLGIG’s different support groups.
