I am running my first ever half marathon in Edinburgh on May 27th, and I am fundraising for the Children of the Mountain charity. COTM is a small charity that works with rural schools in the poorest regions of Nepal and helps provide opportunity for children with very challenging lives. I hope to raise £1,000 which will pay for a teacher's salary for a whole year. Children of the Mountain is a charity very close to my family's heart. My dad has been involved with COTM for a number of years. Last year I was given the opportunity to go with him to Nepal and see first hand the amazing work that COTM does. Though they face hardship that is often beyond imagination, the Nepalese people are kindhearted, positive and joyful. The schools that COTM support provide a safe sanctuary for children where creativeness, self-development and an aspiration is encouraged. These schools are a lifeline to some of the poorest families and their continuation is essential in the fight against extreme poverty in the rural and inner cities of communities of Nepal.
