Forus Tree is a not-for-profit social enterprise and workers Co-operative working towards mitigating the effects of climate change and restoring biodiversity in the Yorkshire Calder valley region (notorious for repeated major flooding incidents in recent years). Forus Tree plant, manage and protect woodland, wildflower and wildlife habitats as well as anti-flooding conservation projects. So far in 2020, the Forus Tree crew planted 22,821 trees and planted 26 willow revetments (leaky dams) with living willow cuttings alongside other conservation work.
The Forus Tree crew do an amazing job with the project funding they receive but lack equipment (which is not included in project funding). This fundraiser is to enable them to acquire specialist tools and equipment and hopefully a 2nd hand 4wheel drive vehicle to make transportation of materials to remote work sites easier.
