Who we are
We are a volunteer-led community that exists to support migrants with 'No Recourse to Public Funds' (NRPF).
We do this through specialist legal advice, policy change and community.
The Unity Project is the only organisation in the UK that specialises in the complex immigration application necessary to request access to public funds.

What we do and why we do it
Since we opened in 2017, we've supported over 600 families and individuals who are affected by the government's 'hostile environment' policies designed to exclude migrants from accessing healthcare, welfare support, education and legal justice.
The 'No Recourse to Public Funds' (NRPF) policy is applied to tens of thousands of people's immigration status every year.
It means that children, single parents, people with disabilities and pregnant people cannot get any state support, including things like Child Benefit, Disability Living Allowance and free school meals, despite working, and paying tax and thousands of pounds in immigration fees every 2.5 years.
We see people who are homeless, or living in abject poverty, unable to afford basics like hot meals, let alone things that many others take for granted such as school trips or birthday cakes.
We sit alongside people to navigate the nightmarish bureaucracy of the Home Office and request recourse to public funds so that they can afford a decent quality of life for themselves and their children.
Thank you for your support!
