Back in July 2010 we were a happy normal family, we had our ups and downs, with four growing sons life was never going to be a quiet bed of roses. Then on July 10th we received the awful news that our eldest son had been hit by an IED (improvised explosive device) whilst serving as part of an Advanced high risk search team with his Royal Engineer regiment in Afghanistan. In a split second our happy normal family was ripped to pieces, the word devastated does not begin to describe how we felt.
