Every morning millions of children in India go to a school where they carry heavy bags which have no books. Because for a hungry child, plates of rice and chapati are more inviting than chapters from Geometry and Geography! A child hungry for food will never be hungry for books! The Akshaya Patra Foundation is the worlds largest NGO-run school meal programme, feeding over 1.2 Million underprivileged children daily in more than 7,700 schools in 18 locations across 8 states in India.
