We are 5 friends – Alicia, Gemma, Holly, Jenny & Nicola - running our first 5k obstacle race together to raise money for Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services. Distressingly, 1 in 5 women aged 16 - 59 has experienced some form of sexual violence since the age of 16, and 1 in 5 girls is a victim of child sexual abuse. Sadly these statistics are true within our group. Fortunately, during an incredibly traumatic time Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services were on hand to offer support, kindness and safety. We are truly grateful for the work they do. Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year; that's roughly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour. Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services ensures nobody has to cope with rape or sexual abuse alone, regardless of if the abuse took place yesterday or twenty years ago. This small but mighty charity needs our support to ensure they are there to support victims of these atrocious crimes. We are running our first obstacle race and are hoping to raise £100 to support this amazing charity – please help us reach our goal.
