SWATS - Supporting West Africa Through Schooling.
We are a registered UK charity focused on providing a free education to children in West Africa.
At present (and for the immediate future) our focus is on Sierra Leone, a country with a 40% adult literacy rate. We've set up the Evans Primary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone where 7 staff members educate 90 pupils through primary school and beyond. Many of these pupils are orphans who have been adopted by families in the local community and who, without this school, would not receive a free education.
SWATS aims to develop educated, healthy young people who are better able to find and maintain employment and thus contribute to their community, further their own potential and stay healthy.
