Founded in 2023, Sunday Suppers serves people who are homeless or experiencing food poverty in the local community with a nutritious free hot meal every Sunday evening at Rivercourt Methodist Church in King Street, London W6. Very few daytime facilities are open on Sundays and many of our guests will have had little, if anything, to eat before they visit us. We also offer our guests some groceries to take away, and good quality secondhand clothing, which we are given by friends, neighbours and local churches. In our first season, we fed 172 different people, including 53 women, the youngest of whom was 14. We served over 1,000 meals, including takeaways, and by the time we paused for a summer break we were feeding between 65 and 70 guests every Sunday. We partner with City Harvest London, from whom we obtain most of the food we need free of charge, and are supported by St Peter’s Church in Hammersmith and St Peter’s Church of England primary school. We have over 40 volunteers, including sixth form students from local schools.
