About
Hello from all the children and staff at St Peter’s! You may already have close connections with the school, have children that have been through or about to go through the school or maybe you were even a former pupil yourself. Even if your knowledge of the school is limited to an occasional walk past the grounds, we would love for you to get to know us a little better and to help us if you can. During these most unsettling times, St Peter’s has been incredibly blessed to not have had any positive Covid cases in school so far. Our home learning provision, with the support of parents, has been highly effective and together, we have minimised the losses to the children’s education. We believe that our school vision ‘Minds that Learn, Hearts that Love, Faith that Gives’ and our 12 school values have helped us through these toughest of times. We wanted to share our ethos with you in the form of our school fridge magnet – we hope you can put it to good use! We see so many of the values we work on with the children reflected in the community and we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such support. Recently we had a small army of village volunteers helping to plant saplings which will ultimately form a new hedge and increase our biodiversity; what a great legacy for the children, school and the wider surrounds. Covid though has undoubtedly taken its toll. We want to start the next academic year in September with great excitement and to really hit the ground running; we have a wish list from the children and staff for how we can do this. Can you help us by giving a donation? Apple Tree Class (Nursery and Reception) Adventure play equipment The youngest children have suffered with opportunities to push their gross motor skills and develop social skills such as taking turns. We desperately want to offer the children more and to maximise their fun in their environment. We have designs and quotes to transform our outside space ranging between £8k - £12k Oak Class (Year 1 and 2) For our Key Stage 1 children, we want to develop their outside undercover area. The children coming up from Reception have not had all the experiences they would usually have done – we want to ease them into year 1 with more child-initiated activities outside. We need to build a new fence for security and also purchase equipment. Can you donate, or can you build us a fence to section off the area? The children said they would like: Water play equipment Mud kitchen Sand table Building blocks Maple/Willow Classes (Years 3-6) Children need their class projectors updating to SmartScreen (£2k each). The current setup can be hard to see – especially when it is sunny. This would improve the learning experience for the children. The children also said they would like: To make a peaceful/cosy area of the classroom for reading Beanbags Smaller play equipment/games for breaktimes A budget for books that they could choose. Raising £10k would go a very long way to addressing these needs within the school. Please pass this on to any individual, family or business who you think may like to help us in any small way. Donations can also be dropped off at the school office if this is easier for you. If you are able to offer your services in some other way, please contact the school on office.3651@st-peters.oxon.sch.uk Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and we look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, On behalf of the children and staff of St Peter’s C of E Primary School.
