I am aiming to complete 800,000 steps, during Lent, to raise money for Ekica Fundraising. This equates to approximately 400 miles. Ekica Fundraising is a small charity, supporting the education and care of children in Arusha, Tanzania, through child sponsorship and fundraising. All monies raised go directly to the school and children. I was inspired to support Ekica Fundraising by its founders, who I have known personally for nearly 30 years. They work tirelessly to raise money to help develop the school and care for the children’s needs, after spending a few weeks volunteering in 2016.This has included providing clean, safe water, chickens and uniforms. Regular updates regarding the schools progress is accessible on social media, allowing us all to see how the school and children are being helped by the money we donate and raise. I also sponsor one of the children and I am given regular updates regarding his academic progress. Belonging to such a charity is extremely fulfilling.
