Spiral Sussex is a Brighton-based charity providing vital daycare services and specialist holidays to local adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. After the isolation of the pandemic, our services are more important than ever, ensuring that the most vulnerable in our local community are able to make the best out of life and providing carers with much-needed respite. We are based at a daycare centre in Bevendean and need to buy an automatic external defibrillator (AED) to make sure we can provide life-saving care if the worst happens. While we have first aiders on site, CPR alone only goes so far. Using an AED has been shown to increase the chance of survival after cardiac arrest by up to 80%. But AEDs don't come cheap. We are looking to purchase ours from the British Heart Foundation, which will set us back £1435.00.
