Story
As a social worker in Leeds I encounter and work with many incredible charities, one of whom is PAFRAS (Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers). PAFRAS their staff and volunteers have been invaluable in supporting individuals I have worked with hence I thought it would be a lovely gesture to support them and raise some money for this essential work. This is even more paramount considering the oppressive Tory mandate on Asylum Seekers. We're all humans, let's help those most in need.
PAFRAS support Asylum seekers who are destitute or at risk of destitution who have no access to housing or benefits and are not allowed to work. However they do much more than this. I'm aware they go above and beyond their remit and continue to support those with leave to remain but struggle with their mental health or forming networks. Their support includes; Emergency crisis intervention (food parcels, vouchers and emergency accommodation), independent OISC-regulated immigration advice, casework and integrated mental health support.
This will be the second marathon I've run, crawling to the end of the York Marathon in 2016 with a time of 4 hrs 33. The Rob Borrows marathon is a hillier affair and a recent injury has set me back a few weeks in my training but I'm striving (probably unsuccessfully) to beat that time. Your donation will not only go 100% to PAFRAS but will also give me the extra motivation to push myself that little bit harder. And let's be honest what I'm doing is nothing compared to the challengers faced by many Asylum Seekers.
When you make your donation through Givey, the Charity receives 100% of the donation
