If you pay tax in the UK and complete the gift aid details we will be able to claim an extra 20% on top of your donation from government as well! For many years now the BYC Singathon has been a main source of fundraising for the choir. The through the night, twelve-hour, stint has hundreds of children, musical directors and volunteers taking part in this sponsored singing marathon. The money raised allows us to continue to support singers to be part of the amazing, and often life changing, experience that being part of a choir creates. The list of positives that come from being in a choir grows with every new piece of research: improves breathing, posture and muscle tension, creates social bonds, relieves pain, improves memory, has a positive emotional effect for wellbeing and happiness are some of the outcomes. This is what BYC offers hundreds of young people in Barnsley and we would like to grow this to hundreds more children and young people. The 2021 Singathon will be happening early in the year, late January/start of February, in a virtual environment. We are starting to organise this now as it looks very likely that any mass immunisation will only be getting started by then. Safety is one of our most important concerns for everyone involved in the choir, from singers to audiences, and we will not be meeting in person again until we are sure it is safe to do so. A virtual sponsored Singathon is more difficult to organise than having members take home sponsor forms after a rehearsal so we will use Givey and a social media platform to raise funds from the event as your details are safe with Givey and donating is completely secure, they never share your email address with any third parties except the Charity you donate to.
