Story
A 2,700km Race across India in a Rickshaw with everything India can throw at us!
We'll be travelling from Jailsalmer in the North West to Shillong in the North East - from extreme desert sandstorms to one of the wettest places on earth! There's no back up, no roadside assistance, no guide book and no help from Tom Tom.
Why??
To help these 2 great causes (and hopefully have one hell of an adventure)
Cool Earth - In the words of Sir David Attenborough "Helping Cool Earth to halt tropical deforestation makes a real difference. Perhaps the biggest difference we will make in our whole lives." - And David Attenborough is never wrong! We have pledged to raise £500 for the official Rickshaw Run Charity, Cool Earth, in their efforts to halt rainforest destruction, which they do by putting Indigenous people back in control of their forest. You can read more about it on their website www.coolearth.org
Smile From Hatti - ‘Smile from Hatti’ was established in honour of the recently departed, but forever loved, Hatti Sandall. At the age of just twenty-four she inspired so many people with her brave fight with Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer; she was taken from us on 6th January 2015. After being told there was nothing more the NHS could do, the initial ‘Smile for Hatti’ cause was set up by her friends to help pay for alternative treatments.
Since her death they have become ‘Smile from Hatti’ with the aim of using funds raised to help other young people be supported as Hatti so kindly was. The Charity will now aim to assist other young cancer sufferers by providing financial support for treatments, palliative care and therapies that could make a real difference. The aim is to give young people with cancer the best possible chance, and offer channels through which they can find an element of solace. You can see more about Hatti's story on Smile From Hatti's Facebook page www.facebook.com/smilefromhatti or http://www.smileforhatti.com/
Both these charities are doing amazing work and we hope to help as much as we can by doing one of the stupidest things we could ever do!
Every Penny will be greatly appreciated, Thanks for your support!!!
We'll be posting updates on our journey across the subcontinent in our 3 wheeled tin can at www.facebook.com/shillongwaytogo
