I am cycling the Sea to Sea cycle route in the week of June 20th (weather permitting) With Neil and a couple of very good friends Angela and Duncan to raise money for the SibsService. The Coast to Coast or Sea to Sea Cycle Route (C2C) is a 140 miles from Whitehaven in Cumbria, crossing the Lake District and the Pennines ending on the north-east coast at Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
Trust me I will find this a challenge..... especially as we are going to carry our camping 'stuff' with us on the bikes.
Training to date has been to clean the bike, (ok Neil did it) cycle to The Old John Tea Shop in Swithland (yum) and to cycle downhill to Loughborough (note I begged a lift home).,,,,a start
Sibsservice is a, non profit, charity that supports the brothers and sisters (aged 7-14) of individuals with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Asperger's. There are afterschool sessions run fortnightly across Leicestershire, a family summer BBQ, Summer camp and other days out and Christmas party Many of the siblings are often hurt by their brother/sister, they witness their brother/sisters meltdowns and live in a home environment that may be restricted by their siblings sensory needs and rigid thinking. SibsService provides the children with a safe place where they have the freedom to be themselves and share experiences with others in similar situations giving emotional and peer support through interactive, fun and relaxed group activities. Please give generously as I would like to money to take all the children (65) to Planet Bounce in the Autumn.
