Huntington?s disease (HD) is a hereditary condition causing profound physical and mental ill-health, usually starting at age 30-45 and leading to death 15-25 years later. Over 800 people in Scotland now have the disease. SHA is the only organisation in Scotland providing specialist help in the community to HD families. Through expert needs assessment, comprehensive care co-ordination and long term emotional support we dramatically improve the quality of life of people affected by the disease.
