About
THANK YOU EVERYONE - YOU HELPED US RAISED £1,045 INCLUDING GIFT AID FOR DEVIZES CANOE CLUB AND SHELTER 50/50 fundraising for Devizes Canoe Club and Shelter: Shelter for a safe, secure and affordable home for everyone Devizes Canoe Club for getting more kids to paddle https://www.givey.com/SarahNatalieDWdcc Don't forget to complete the gift aid for up to 25% increase of your donation if you pay tax. We made it! Natalie and Sarah finished 5th girls in the race. After 108 miles, the staged race had to end at Teddington on Sunday night because of Storm Katie and up 100 miles / hour gusts of wind – even the safety boats couldn’t go out! We slept the last night in the storm, got medals in the morning and raised over £850 so far (inc gift aid) for our chosen charities Shelter and Devizes Canoe Club. We also won the Waterside Series earlier in March. Thanks everyone for supporting us along the way. For juniors, the race is spread over 4 days Friday 25 to Monday 28 March, camping every night in basic conditions - no glamping! We both train with Devizes Canoe Club for the event. As part of our training, we have now completed the Watersides and Thamesides national races: winning Waterside Series (4 races, 88 miles, 110 portages) and coming 1st and 2nd in the 2 Thamesides races. We are serious about kayak: our weekly training 2 night paddles, 2 gym sessions and either 1/2 or full day paddle at the weekend. After DW we intend to continue competing together in both marathon and sprint events. We are hoping to raise sponsorship via crowdfunding to buy our own boat as we paddle a vintage Marsport Toucan K2 on loan from the club. Thanks for taking the time to visit my Givey page (and thank you to our parents for being our support crew!).
