RP Fighting Blindness provides essential information and support services to people with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and their families. We also stimulate and fund medical research into the disease with the aim of finding a treatment or cure. RP is a genetic condition that results in the degeneration of the cells of the retina, thus sight loss. It is a major cause of blindness in children and people of working age, affecting about 25,000 people in the UK and over 2 million around the world.
