Story
After over 20 years partnering with Glass Door, Rivercourt Methodist Church has decided to go it alone with the Sundays Suppers project. Glass Door are specialists in looking after the homeless and getting them off the streets. Rivercourt Methodist has the ability to feed many more people than most other Glass Door churches.
Thus this year we will serving people who are experiencing food poverty in the local community with a nutritious meal every Sunday evening.. There is no signing up. We will issue free entrance tickets on the night. This number will change as the number of meals each week grows during the season. There is also a chance of takeaways. We will start the service in November and finish just prior to Easter. Sunday Suppers will take place at Rivercourt but many of the volunteers are members of St. Peter's Church in Black Lion Lane. St. Peter's and other local volunteers date back to the beginning of the Glass Door relationship.
In the same way Glass Door volunteers sleep out to raise money, Sunday Suppers volunteers have agreed to fast from sunrise to sunset praying for all people to have access to nutritious food.
This is led by the minister of Rivercourt, Revd. Singa Vunipola.
