Renew Crew aims to avoid unnecessary landfill and the high cost of New IT equipment plus create high quality employment and repair skills training in our community. Our initial pilot Project, which will run from March to June 2021, will take donated and unwanted Laptops, Tablets, PC’s, Macs and Monitors, refurbish them and then offer them to groups and individuals in our community who currently face digital exclusion or financial hardship. Donated equipment will have all data ‘wiped’ securely, New more reliable solid-state hard drives installed, a fully licensed Microsoft Windows operating system installed, be PAT tested and offered to the new owners with a range of suitable accessories. Initial funding to enable us to establish our workshop, put systems in place, develop a website and promote our project and its long term plans has been provided by the ScotGov 'Communities Recovery Fund'.
