On 6th September I, and over 750 other nutters, start the 9 days of cycling that will us travel the 960-odd miles from Land's End to John O'Groats with overnight sleeping in tents. The challenge is the final stage of my journey that started on a turbo trainer in the sitting room in front of the telly at the start of the year and has continued around the hills of Hampshire and beyond in the evenings and weekends since. Most of us have friends or family who have been affected by the disease and many of us will be marked by it at some time in our lives. My aim is to raise 2,500 (something approaching the financial cost to myself) in an effort to make it worthwhile and ease my conscience at having spent that much!
