OX4 FOOD CREW IS FUNDRAISING TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF THIS WINTER

Winter can be an especially difficult time for lots of people. The on-going cost of living crisis, insecure housing and jobs, the rise in fuel prices and the school holidays can put additional strain on already stretched budgets.

The demand for food support continues to rise. However, as an alliance of nine grassroots organisations we are already struggling with reduced food supplies from national supply chains. Coupled with rising energy prices we are expecting another hard winter this year and our ability to meet demand is at risk.

We’re asking the Oxford community to come together and support us by donating, fundraising and spreading the word. With your help, we can make sure that we’re able to be there for the people who need us.

FUNDING EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF PARCELS

Our partner organisations deliver over 500 food parcels to households in Oxford each week. Parcels offer culturally appropriate food and, whever possible, respond to preference and specific needs of the household.

Demand for food parcels will rise again over winter placing additional strain on our resources. As an alliance we have been facing significantly decreased food volume arriving from our suppliers each week. The power of our collective approach means that in 2021 we were able to come togther to purchase essential food supplies in bulk to be stored and distributed amongst partner organisations. We will need to repeat this again this year in order to meet demand and continue to serve the community.

COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS MEALS

In 2021, our partner orgainsations served a three course Christmas meal to over 300 people in the community. The OX4 Food Crew offered a warm place to enjoy a hot meal and a sense of community on Christmas Day. What’s more, each child who attended was given a small gift to take home.

HOT MEALS DELIVERED TO HOMES

Our hot meal delivery service offers a life line to people in the community. Our partner organisations deliver nutritious, pre cooked meals to around 120 households in Oxford each week. This service supports those who lack the skills or resources to be able to cook at home. The meals are made with high quality surplus food ingredients in OX4 before being delivered by our team of volunteers. Over winter, demand for this service increases. Your donations will help us meet the increased costs of making and delivering these meals to homes in Oxford.

The OX4 Food Crew is a partnership of organisations. One of our members acts as the administrative partner holding the funds for this winter appeal- this is People Place and Participation who's CBS number is 7713. Our HMRC registered number for charitable tax purposes is EW89947 (use this if claiming gift aid)
