Oran & Lesley are rowing the Thames to raise money for Shadwell Outdoor Activity Centre, East London
About
River Thames Rowing Marathon, to raise money for Shadwell Outdoor Activity Centre 19th May 2024.
As part of the Shadwell Basin Outdoor Centre's fundraising efforts for this year we are joining a team of volunteers to row one of the centre's traditional Skerries along the Thames from Shadwell to Chiswick and back, a distance of 26.2 miles passing all of the ionic London landmarks.
This is to raise money to support the ongoing valuable work that the centre does for the local & wider London community. Shadwell Activity Centre is a purpose built centre between the River Thames and Shadwell basin in the East End of London and has developed into a dynamic and safe space for young people and adults to try, experience and grow their potential using outdoor activities as a vehicle for pathways to achieve success. It provides the widest range of adventurous activities available in central London for everyone and has specialist programmes for the most vulnerable in society.
Many young people have said that participating in the activities at the Centre has been a life changing experience. These changes are mainly either by going on to a greater adventure and challenges in the world wilderness areas or by gaining confidence, determination and inspiration to improve their expectations of what they can achieve.
The centre will only be able to continue to do this with your help and support!
