About
I must be crazy less than three months after having foot surgery I am taking part in a 12 hour Dance-a-Thon. “The best Friday afternoons ever – always different, always fun and a feeling of relaxation as well as hard work of course. Laughter and happy times“ A heart warming quote from one of the Parkinson's Dancers. Parkinson's Dance is a weekly class which has been running at Pavilion Dance for over a decade. It uses the Parkinson's Dance Science approach developed by physio-therapist Dr Sophia Hulbert and dance artist Aimee Hobbs (both caring and special creative people that continue to pave the way for Parkinson's and Dance). Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition where the nerves cells that create Dopamine in our brain stop working, effecting movement and speech. Over 145000 people in the UK currently have Parkinson's and this number is set to rise. On our website we say that Parkinson's Dance uses physiotherapeutic effect, research evidence and the artistic experience of dance to address Parkinson’s symptoms in a fun, social and creative way and it does this and so much more. The community of Parky Dancers and teachers create such a special community and support for one another and make our fun Fridays a place of shared laughter, understanding and care. Any funds raised would be gratefully received and will support this class and for carers to continue to attend for free and also support Sophia and Aimee to continue to develop their Parkinson's Dance Science model. Thank you so much!
