PLEASE NOTE - unfortunately I have suffered a recent illness that has stopped me being able to train for the marathon. As a result I am going to try and defer my place to 2016. Thanks to those who have already donated - I'll put the donations towards next year!
I've often vaguely spoken of my desire to have a go at a marathon for the first time...and now I'm actually doing it. London, April 26th...not far away now! The furthest I've run is 13 miles, but that was for a hlaf marathon back in 2008. So I've a lot of training to do in a short space of time - the marathon mission is on!
I am raising money for a small charity called Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST). BOST are local to both where I live and work in the London borough of Southwark. They undertake fantastic work with local communities and volunteers to improve and manage green and open spaces. Such spaces are incredibly important for health and wellbeing, especially in inner London where areas to grow food, kick a ball or just relax can be rare. By working with local residents, BOST foster local ownership of green spaces and all the benefits they provide.
Please do help me raise funds for BOST (www.bost.org.uk) to continue their great work, all donations are gratefully received.
I'll keep adding updates, but hope to see you at the marathon cheering all the runners on!
Thanks
Matt
