Victoria Bentley is raising $6,000 for Trinity Homeless Projects
About
PROJECT DETAILS: Muriel Ouegraogo is Director of this Medical Centre, set up by Muriel (based in Ouagadougou) and supported by Trinity Homeless (based in the UK) in the slums of Ouagadogou. It has a maternity unit, a dispensary, a labratory and surgery, providing around 300 consultations per month. Muriel and Trinity together have set up this facility and work hard to make a real difference in people's lives for the long term; providing health care, advice and treatment. In a country with little or no infrastructure, the facility has already made its mark. Trinity and Muriel are working together to source improved equipment for the centre, to support the education of staff, and to improve supplies at the centre. When I visited Burkina Faso in January 2015, I visited many of their projects, as part of the Ambassador Trip organised by Trinity. I was completely bowled over by the partnership, I learnt so much myself from the lives, culture and community. At the Medical Centre, I was awe-struck by Muriel. She was all smiles, and positivity, as she proudly showed us round the centre. She is raising a child, studying for her final medical exams, and dedicates her days to providing as much help and support to her community as she possibly can. She inspired me, to be alongside her, and to give a little of what she gives fully, every day of her life. I am so proud to have Muriel as my friend. She has the stratgic planning, vision and listening skills required to understand, prioritise and then, to make it happen. So, when I was at her medical centre I commited to building a much needed wall around the medical centre. The wall is a key priority for the centre, providing secruity for the staff, patients and equipment, and giving patients confidentiality. Now, Muriel can organise for the heavy work to be done to get the wall built, what's needed is the finance. That's the best and most effective way for me to change the future of the communities in one of the poorest countries in the world. The great thing about this partnership, is that 100% of the money I raise will go directly to the Medical Centre, and to build the wall. So, are you able to help? Perhaps a monthly donation to the project would be a great way to make you, me, Muriel and hundreds of people in Burkina Faso smile. Its infectious you know..... Victoria
