We are a group of local residents living in Mortlake, Barnes, East Sheen and other parts of Richmond. We have been campaigning for many years for a visionary plan for the development of the old Stag (Watney's) Brewery site. We have a chance to make that happen at a Planning Inquiry starting on Tuesday 5th November. We have already raised over £45k to support the campaign in the last few years and most recently contribute to the legal costs of our barrister from Landmark Chambers to represent the community at the Planning Inquiry,. However, we have a shortfall of £5k as a result of the inquiry being spread over a longer time period and our barrister needing to be in attendance throughout. We have also had extra input from our heritage experts. So we need to ask the community to dig deep once again. We have already raised £500 off line so only have £4,500 to go! We are not anti-development but we are opposed to the current plans which are too dense, harms our beautiful riverside heritage, will cause traffic mayhem and only delivers 7% affordable housing to the community. If these plans are turned down, we can start again and urge the developers and the Council to support a better scheme that we can all get behind.
