As I get older I realise there is very little I want or need for my birthday and anyone who knows me knows I prefer to give gifts than receive them! With that in mind for my birthday wish this year I would like to ask my Family and Friends to help support a charity very close to my heart and in return on my birthday I will take part in a freezing cold mid-winter dip in the sea here in New Zealand….brrrrrrrrrr! Pegasus Play Scheme has been going since 1986 and a dear friend Sue Clark and her family work tirelessly fundraising year on year to raise over £70,000 so a group of over 30 youngsters, accompanied by teenage volunteers, 12 staff members and 3 bus drivers get to enjoy a 3-week play scheme in Dover, UK. Pegasus play scheme offers activities for children with disabilities and severe learning difficulties and each child is supported by a local able-bodied volunteer. The play scheme offers a safe environment for children, some of who have a rare and complex disability, enabling them to enjoy 3 weeks of fun packed activities and a summer to remember! I’d really like to raise enough money to buy an ice cream for everyone taking part in this years play scheme, a perfect treat on a hot summers day when they’re out and about enjoying activities. As a thank you for your support and for thinking of me on my birthday I will post amusing photos of me turning blue on Saturday! Also when I see you again and it's ok to do so, I will give each and everyone of you a big kiss and a 10 second hug!
