Shane Ewen is raising $500 for Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
About
Matthew Caygill was a much loved and respected friend, colleague, historian and activist. He was passionate about the connections between politics and culture, and gave his time to helping his students and others understand contemporary politics through a historical lens. He worked tirelessly to campaign for vulnerable groups within society. You can read more about Matthew, and hear him present his research, here: https://swpleeds.wordpress.com/2016/07/06/matthew-caygill/. Matthew's colleagues at the School of Cultural Studies have set up this Givey page to raise money on behalf of Matthew for Positive Action for Refugees & Asylum Seekers (PAFRAS). PAFRAS works with refugees, asylum seekers and the wider community to counter the effects of enforced destitution on vulnerable migrants, including in Matthew's own local community of Leeds. PAFRAS' work has three main strands: 1) providing immediate humanitarian relief; 2) long-term support, advice and advocacy aimed at assisting service users to make lasting improvements to their situations; 3) raising awareness and campaigning locally and nationally on issues affecting our service users. You can learn more about PAFRAS at http://www.pafras.org.uk/. When you make your donation through Givey, the Charity receives 100% of the donation. Your details are safe with Givey and donating is completely secure. Whatsmore, they never share your email address with any third parties except the Charity you donate to. Thank-you for your donation on behalf of everyone who knew and loved Matthew.
