Earlier this year, one of my friends, who was instrumental in fostering my passion for cycling and introducing me to like-minded madmen (and women), passed away after a fight with cancer. I wanted to honour his enthusiasm for the sport by raising money doing a proper challenge and I know that Macmillan offer incredible support to cancer-sufferers and their families.
I'm heading out to the French Alps on 4th July to cycle the Marmotte Gran Fondo. It's a one-day 174km cycling event taking in four of the classic peaks that regularly feature in the Tour de France - the Cols of Glandon, Telegraphe and Galibier, followed by an ascent of L'Alpe d'Huez! In total, 5,180m of vertical ascent! No mean feat.
It would be amazing, and a real boost to keep those pedals spinning, if I could have your support! Thanks for your generosity.
