Story

The Shed is a larger version of the typical shed in the garden – a place where people can feel at home and pursue practical interests at their own pace. It was developed as an answer to ill health among older men or women who suffered from isolation, loneliness or social exclusion. Sheds are accessible, friendly, warm and welcoming places, where it’s always possible to have a cuppa and a chat. More than this, members can share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing in their own way and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction.
