Lydia Gray Rodriguez is raising £200 for Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
About
Hello! This year for my birthday I’m asking to donate to PAFRAS (Positive Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) which is a small Leeds based charity that helps local migrant communities. PAFRAS specialises in working with asylum seekers who are destitute or at risk of destitution through emergency crisis intervention (food parcels, vouchers & emergency accommodation); legal advice; destitution casework and integrated mental health support. This charity works alongside many other organisations in Leeds including Leeds STAR (Student Action for Refugees) which provide Conversation Classes, and Rainbow Junktion which is a community cafe and foodshare that fights against food waste and poverty. The work of all these organisations has shown kindness and support to migrants in the community. The work of PAFRAS is more critical now than ever before. In a time of conflicts and crises, many are fleeing war, persecution and displacement in search for safety and security. Yet unfortunately, in recent years, migrant communities have been subjected to hostile and dehumanising treatment from the government. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, respect and dignity regardless of their circumstances and background. By supporting PAFRAS, we can stand in solidarity with those seeking refuge and challenge systems that perpetuate injustice. Thank you so much ❤️ Lydia
