About
There are approximately 200 families at LAE Tottenham - around 40% of the school population - who need weekly, ongoing support for essentials. There are families who have to choose between feeding their children, or topping up the electricity meter. Students who cannot afford clothes to wear to school. Children at LAE Tottenham considering dropping out of their A Levels to support their families. This has been a familiar rhetoric over the past few weeks, but next few years will not be easy for these families. LAE Tottenham wants to establish a hardship fund, to continue supporting these families, now and in the future. A group of us are running a marathon and 1/2 marathon, from Highgate to Tottenham, to raise money and awareness of this. Although some students receive additional support from the government, many narrowly miss out. £15 a week would make a life changing difference to these families. A generous, anonymous donor has pledged to double the first 100 regular donations towards the establishment of this hardship fund.
