About
The reasons I am doing this is because 2014 turned out to be a very challenging year for my family. Like many people we had the horrible news that a beloved member of our family was diagnosed with the dreaded "C" word. This family member was my Uncle also happened to be one of my Godparents. I knew he would be very positive towards treatment and getting through this tough time in his life. I also knew he had a great supportive partner, family and friends but it still did not take away from the fact he had been diagnosed with such a horrid illness. I was proved right with the way he dealt with the treatment, to thankfully be told the greatest news that he is beating the Cancer. When My Uncle got diagnosed it got me thinking of the other people I have lost to Cancer, this being my Fantastic Gran who I lost when I was 19/20. She unfortunately lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer, she had a massive impact on who I am today, I looked up to her massively and my world crumbled the day I found out she had passed away, my only positive out of this was that I knew she was no longer in pain. I did not handle the passing of my Gran very well until she came to me In a dream one night telling me not to grieve anymore as she was ok and would also be with me. I am not normaly a person that believes in life after death or the afterlife however I truly believe my Gran has been with me in the biggest decisions and moments of my life & still is. My Gran's first Husband, my Grandad also lost his life to Lung Cancer, I have never met him due to this as he passed away when my father was only 17 years of age, however everything I have heard about him I believe I would have been close to him Like I was with my Gran. So with 2 members of my family passing away and one surviving and beating Cancer at this time it got me thinking how lucky I have been so far in my life. It made me want to do something to show support for my family and that my Grandparents have not and will not be forgotten, so I have decided to do my own Charity bike ride. I will be cycling from London to Paris in August this year. I will be doing this over 4 days with my Sister. I will be writing a blog of my training, posting pictures and trying to raise as much money for the chosen charity Star Throwers, which my Uncle has chosen to support.
