People claiming asylum are fleeing persecution & coping with trauma & distress. They have no support structures & often don't know if families & loved ones left behind are still alive. LASSN's 200 volunteers support 700 asylum seekers, refugees & their children. We meet needs of refugees & asylum seekers by reducing isolation, providing advocacy support, encouraging self help & enabling integration. We run 3 volunteering projects: Befriending, teaching English-at-home, & Short Stop accommodation.
