Rose and I will be running the Derby half marathon in June to raise money and awareness for a great charity which is very important to me, called VHL UK & Ireland.
People with Von Hippel Lindau (VHL) disease develop a series of malignant and benign tumours, which commonly occur int he retina, brain and spinal chord, kidneys, pancreas, inner ear and pheochromocytoma.
This charity supports research and provides information and support to anyone affected by VHL, as well as providing education and raising awareness about VHL and other genetic conditions including Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Cancer (HLRCC) and Brit-Hogg-Dube' syndrome (BHD).
Funding is so important to support essential research which is going on here in the UK, which will work towards preventing tumours from developing, and improving treatment. It will also help to provide support to people living with genetic conditions in the UK and Ireland.
More information can be found here: http://www.vhl-uk-ireland.org/about-vhl-uk-ireland.php
as well as the facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/VHL.UK.Ireland/timeline.
Science friends can check out the research section on the VHL website above!
Don't forget to gift aid any donations, thanks for any support in advance :) Lauren and Rose x
