Student Christian Movement is a national community of Christian students from a wide variety of backgrounds, which encourages and supports students in deepening their faith and engaging in activism motivated by this faith. As a part of this, SCM organises many events throughout the academic year for members to meet together in fellowship and hear from a variety of speakers. Particularly motivational was a keynote speech from Amanda Mukwashi, the CEO of Christian Aid, at our last AGM. The organisation is currently in its 130th year, so Lancaster SCM did a sponsored walk up Helvellyn, one of only four 3000ft peaks in the Lake District, on Saturday 15th June in order to raise money and celebrate the anniversary.
