I am walking the Just Walk 2014 challenge in the South Downs of England for 2 amazing charities, Harrison's Fund and B@titude. (www.justgiving.com/Dani-Taylor1) B@titude is a shop in North Leatherhead, selling good quality second hand babies and childrens clothes, toys, games and equipment. It has evolved into more than a shop through the years, in one persons words its a doorway into peoples lives and families, and has become a part of the local community. It isnt a big space but there is room to sit with a friend and have a cuppa and let the children play safely. Its a space to dream and make friends. This place has supported me and so many people I know through the life as a parent and beyond. The stories I hear of the work they do for local people are truly inspiring. They are raising money right now to take a group of mum's they know to Romania to visit the work and support some wonderful mums in a gypsy village in Csekefalva, Romania. They will be taking a mini bus full of childrens clothes, toys and equipment in September, teaching the women some vital skills and encouraging them, building confidence and bringing much needed supplies. These families are the poorest of the poor, with many of the young mums coming from a childrens home and therefore not knowing the first thing about parenting. It will be such a fantastic opportunity to build friendships between our community of mums here and those in Csekefalva. My challenge is a small one in comparison to what some of these people face and so I ask you to donate what you can to make a difference in these women's lives.
