Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research into the causes, treatment and prevention of kidney disease. Right now there are over three million people in Britain at risk of chronic kidney disease. There is no cure. With your help we can save lives.
Founded in 1961, the charity has been at the forefront of kidney research for many years and has an international reputation for the pioneering research it funds.
Every year more than 55,000 people are treated for end stage kidney failure, 3,000 people die on dialysis, while 350 die waiting for a kidney transplant and we are dedicated to substantially reducing these numbers through funding life-saving research.
We have over 10 million invested in research at any one time, awarding grants to doctors, nurses and researchers across the UK.
Research isnt the only thing we do. Each year we raise immediate awareness of kidney-related issues amongst the general public and via our patient information service, helping millions of people better understand the disease.
Even though cases of kidney failure are increasing we are only able to fund one in five of all prospective research projects. We rely almost wholly on donations from the general public, so any support is gratefully received and will be help to fund research to save lives.
