Story
I am running the Shrewsbury half marathon to raise funds and awareness of the amazing work that The Harry Johnson Trust is doing for children with cancer in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. The Harry Johnson Trust was established in November 2014 following the death of seven year old Harry in July of that year. Harry died following a nine month fight with Double Hit Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. The trust, set up in memory of Harry, offers help and support to children and teenagers who receive care from the Oncology Team at The Princess Royal Hospital in Shropshire. The Trust works closely with staff on the children’s oncology and haematology ward to make sure that the right child gets the right help at the right time. Things they have done for individual children and families include disabled car hire, financial support, help towards the cost of funerals, parties and corporate tickets to football matches. They do whatever the child needs whenever they can. One of the resources available is 'Harry's House' which families can use for much needed time together. Families are able to use the caravan and the park’s luxury facilities free of charge knowing that they are not far from the hospital if they need it. The caravan is also used by bereaved families and the wonderful staff who give so much to the children and sometimes need time away too. The local children’s oncology and haematology community are welcome to book time there.
If you would like to donate your money will go towards all of the amazing work provided to children and their families. The Harry Johnson Trust is run by volunteers – 100% of money raised goes to fund their projects. Thank you so much to everyone who makes a donation, your support and generosity are very much appreciated (and will make me run faster!)
