Many people looking at this site will know that my Dad lost his long battle with cancer in late 2007 at the age of 57... He was an inspiration to many people, including Lisa and I. He is the reason I live for the mountains, the wilderness, the cold nights on windswept hillsides and the lofty exposed rock faces miles from anywhere... During his illness, we were helped by many wonderful and caring people from a variety of charities and NGOs. Several years have now passed since my Dad died, and I personally have had a nagging feeling that I should do something to repay the kindness we were shown, and hopefully support other people who are going through the bad times we endured... So, not wanting to be outdone by my little brother, who also did an amazing job or raising money for Marie Curie when he competed in last years Bolton Ironman, Lisa and I have entered this years event, and set our site on raising 3000 pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support. For those of you who are not sure what this will entail, in brief, an Ironman is considered an endurance event, comprising of a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km bike ride, and finally finished with a full marathon... which will take in the region of 15 hours in total...! Training is underway, mental preparations have begun... all we ask from you is for your moral support, and your cash...! Anything you can pledge will be greatly received, by us, on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. We'll keep you posted with our progress through Facebook... Mike and Lisa
