Team I-VOL are climbing Mount Snowdon on 18th June 2016. To raise funds to help our young volunteers undertake a supported International Volunteering project.
The young people set up I-Vol in 2014 to provide peer support for young people in Swansea wishing to get into international volunteering. The young person led group now run a regular programme of community volunteering days for young people aged 18-25 in Swansea alongside fundraising activities. Over the last few years over 20 young volunteers with the group have successfully progressed onto International Volunteering projects with our friends at Cardiff based volunteering Chartiry UNA Exchange whose ‘Step by Step’ programme offers young people from less fortunate backgrounds the chance to take part in international volunteering projects across Europe.
Whilst Step by Step is a funded project, volunteers are expected to fund raise to make a contribution of £150 towards their project. Funds raised through this event go towards this.
Team I-Vol 2016 is made up of young volunteers from the I-Vol project alongside staff volunteers from Info-Nation, Evolve Young Peoples Service, and South Wales Police. The walk has been made possible by Swansea Youth Bank who have kindly funded the group to enable this to take place.
