Hi friends!
As you know I love to craft, knit, paint... anything that avoids my least favourite activity... running!!!
Somehow I managed to sign myself up for a 10k. However it's not all bad news as I'm taking this opportunity to raise money for Martin House Children's Hospice.
When my Grandma passed away in 2012 we requested donations to Martin House instead of flowers and as a consequence I learnt a lot more about the amazing work they do.
Martin House provide care for children and young people with progressive, life-limiting illnesses and offer support to their families across Yorkshire.
Martin House offer their services are free of charge so they need to raise c. 5 million annually to keep running. To give you an idea - 40 could pay for a group session to provide support to a sibling experiencing a brother or sister's illness or death. 60 could pay for an hour of community nursing care for a child in his or her own home. 150 could cover the cost of an evening's respite care for a family to give them much needed sleep. I'm aiming to raise 300 to help out with these costs.
So in memory of my Grandma and to continue supporting this super-dooper charity I'm getting my bum off the craft couch, popping on my trainers and taking a 'leisurely trot' around Hull.
