Hughes syndrome is an autoimmune condition in which there is an increased tendency for the blood to clot. The condition can cause low grade symptoms such as migraines, memory problems, dizziness and fatigue, but also is responsible for acute events such as strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli and DVTs. In pregnancy, Hughes syndrome is the most common treatable cause of recurrent miscarriage and can increase the chance of stillbirth by three to five times.
The Hughes Syndrome Foundation aims to achieve earlier diagnosis and better treatment of Hughes syndrome/APS through awareness and research.
